I’m in Glasgow this weekend at the Scottish Book Trust’s storycon Young people from all over Scotland have sought out this opportunity to attend free workshops and meet with others who share the same passion for writing and stories. I’ve been giving workshops on THE RIGHT TO WRITE, and while it includes lots of honest information about how hard it can be, I hope I’ve encouraged some aspiring young writers to realise that if you put your mind to it, nothing is impossible. Here are the delightful young writers I’ve been working with over the past seven months, mentoring them as they wrote their own beautiful pieces. Each of these writers are unique, quite different to each other in their style and genre, but they all have so much to give as writers and as creative people. I hope this will be a defining moment for them to look back on. This was us back in November – since then they have grown and grown (I haven’t!!!!) in stature as writers. They are all brilliant. And this weekend they helped organize the story conference and welcome other aspiring young writers from all over Scotland.
