Took a trip into Edinburgh yesterday with my good friend @kirklandciccone, exploring bookshops in search of our books. Here’s what happened in a few simple shots.
We found Edinburgh Central Library – DARKER ENDS will be launched here in November
An official appeared and told us off for taking pics. He looked a lot like Kirkland.
We were escorted off the premises and made to sit on the naughty step.
We took refuge in Looking Glass Books, and I decided this could be my new kitchen.
We found Blackwell’s and I was relieved to find two copies of CHILL and SHIVER
A customer tried to grab Kirkland’s book off she shelf.
Kirkland tried to see who it was, but they fled, looking nervous.
I annoyed staff by turning book cover to the front – all authors do this.
I insisted on showing Kirkland the flat where I used to live 25 years ago
We got hopelessly lost – so took pics
Finally found The famous Edinburgh Bookshop
The staff took pity on us – gave us tea and jaffa cakes – and got us to sign the author ladder.
Two literary icons met for the first time. But Kirkland got angry.
Douglas fought back. It turned ugly.
Ended up back on the naughty step.
